The Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner
The Mulliner division will be celebrating Bentley's 100th Anniversary next year with the release of a Mulsanne special edition. It pays tribute to the company's founding father, W.O. Bentley and includes a piece of one of his automobiles.
The special model can be ordered with a standard Mulsanne, Mulsanne Speed or Mulsanne Long Wheelbase. It was inspired by the 1930 8 Litre Bentley owned by W.O. was using as his personal vehicle. The influence of the car can be felt throughout the interior, including the Mulliner illuminated cocktail cabinet, which has an open display window that displays an image of the original crankshaft from the 8 Litre that is displayed inside.
W.O. is emblazoned in the form of a B-shaped photoetched air vent on the chrome application along the back side of the vehicle. The front grille is patterned in 1930s-style Onyx and there's an additional chrome-colored application on the lower spoilers to the left and right. The front grille is also unique, sporting an aluminum shell instead of the typical body-color mesh that is found on the standard Mulsanne and also featuring the Flying B logo as well.
The key box is made of Bentley wings and is fitted with the lining of black flock. Individual key pouches can be purchased to complement or enhance the key box. The set is also commemorative, and includes a bespoke 1:18 scale model of the 8 Litre and an air-borne 'B' paperweight and a printed brochure that features previously unpublished images of the original 1930s 8 Litre.
The Bentley Wing Key Box
A unique keybox decorated with Bentley wings and designed to fit 2 Bentley keys, this key holder is perfect for Bentley owners and enthusiasts. It is carefully wrapped in tissue paper and placed inside the gift box, it's the perfect present for Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions.
The knurling of the metal-to-metal key fob mimics the textures in the interior, including the controls for temperature of the seat and the shift knob. "We wanted the knurling's appearance to be as smooth and uniform as possible," says Van Braekel. It was crucial to keep the size and shape of the fob the same.
Bentley Mulliner customers are able to specify any color from the Bentley portfolio, in addition to any combination of hides or veneers, and custom embroidery. Almost 400,000 stitches deliver Bentley's signature diamond-indiamond quilting across the entire cabin. In addition, the mood lighting can be altered to suit a range of different moods.
Standard outside are illuminated treadplates and brushed silver clocks and new 22in wheels with self-leveling Bentley logos. Customers can also choose to have their own bespoke Bentley emblem laser-etched onto the rear fixing, in an homage to the 1930 8 Litre W.O. The car was inspired by the 1930 8-liter W.O. Bentley's "Speed" series is an absolute blast in that it takes the Continental GT's already excessive excess and cranks it up to eleven.
